HEAR: Rollicking New of Montreal – ‘Belle Glade Missionaries’

The madness is back in full force with of Montreal’s latest track ‘belle glade missionaries.’ More similar to the lead single from lousy with sylvianbriar (out October 8th on Polyvinyl), “fugitive air,” “belle” offers a stripped down, bluegrass-tinged, rollicking tune that showcases of Montreal having fun. It looks like the brooding temperamental psycho-electronicism of the last few releases, has been replaced with a light-hearted callback to their earlier work.

I have to admit, as a long time fan it took me a little while to get used to their change in sonic direction, especially after the brilliance of Hissing Fauna and Skeletal Lamping, however it’s growing on me.

I look forward to the release, as should you.
