January 28, 2014 – Boston, MA – Boston Calling Music Festival announces its May 2014 lineup today; presale tickets will go on sale tomorrow, January 29, 2014. As in 2013, 2014’s lineup was curated by Aaron Dessner of The National in collaboration with Crash Line Productions and Bowery Boston. Boston Calling is produced by Crash Line Productions and is Boston’s first multi-day outdoor music festival. The festival launched in 2013 with May and September editions; due to its enormous success with each, the festival has added a Friday evening to its 2014 edition. Performances span Memorial Day Weekend, May 23, 24 and 25, 2014 and will once again take place at City Hall Plaza [One City Hall Square, Boston, Massachusetts]. For the announcement video please click here. For more information please visit www.bostoncalling.com.

Anchoring the festival are Jack Johnson, Death Cab For Cutie, Modest Mouse, and an additional superstar who will be announced in the coming weeks.  These artists will be joined by some of the greatest talents and up-and-comers in the music world: Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, Brand New, The Head and the Heart, Bastille, The Neighbourhood, and Tegan and Sara to name a few. Local talent will also take to the stages with performances by Americana stomp band tigermanWOAH! and synth rock band Magic Man (please find the complete line-up below).

“I was thrilled to curate the line-up for the second year in a row. Having performed at Boston Calling in May 2013, I can say from experience that playing the festival is electric and we couldn’t be happier with the amazing group of artists who will perform at Boston Calling this year,” says Aaron Dessner of The National.

“Everyone involved loves working on this festival, and shares a singular goal of making it a great experience for the fans. Drawing crowds from across the country and giving people the chance to see some of the most incredible artists in the world in downtown Boston has been a privilege,” says Brian Appel, Co-Founder of Crash Line Productions.

Boston Calling has earned the praise of nearly 70,000 fans between its first editions in May 2013 and September 2013. Glowing reviews from the likes of Rolling Stone and The Boston Globe noted everything from its versatile lineup to its quality of production.

Perched on a hill in Downtown Boston and with the city’s skyscrapers encircling its grounds, Boston Calling’s locale at City Hall Plaza offers the ideal urban festival vibe. Producers will enhance this environment with two performance stages, two beer gardens, a food pavilion comprised of food trucks and local food vendors, and world-class lighting and design. Boston Calling will also feature a VIP component whereby VIP ticketholders have access to City Hall Courtyard, a 25,000 square foot, second-floor Mezzanine offering prime views of the main stage as well as curated menus and amenities. Music fans will be able to choose from 50 dishes and beers, including those from local food trucks and breweries.

Boston Calling’s 2014 line-up as of January 28, 2014 is as follows. For full enjoyment, there are no overlapping sets. The schedule for each day will be announced at a later date.
