First of all, I’m a sucker for songs that start relatively soft and cruisey and end up with a minute of guitar feedback. My Lord, what a great song. And a bitter, amazingly in-depth probing of the deep, dark something within all of us, and that, for Mahoney, the price is a exile, like the Stones Exile on Mainstreet, which this song could be part of, sitting right after “Wild Horses” and before “Tumbling Dice”. Not that Bobby Mahoney and the Seventh Son sound like the Stones (they sound so original), they just give you that feeling the Rolling Stones produced when they were on the top of their game. Very beautiful, very stunning.
