Do you remember the rock/funk of bands like James Gang, Grand Funk Railroad, Rare Earth, and Foghat? Spirit Animal envokes that spirit. And God, we need some great, straight-out funky rock and blues. Coming from Brooklyn, Spirit Animal consists of explosive singer Steve Cooper, drummer Ronen Evron, bassist Paul Michel, and guitarist Cal Stamp. Together, they make some of the rawest and heaviest funk I’ve heard for a while. I wouldn’t be surprised if Spirit Animal and George Clinton would get together and funk around. This is rock ‘n’ funk like it was meant to be.
