What is going on in New Zealand? Here comes Henika, from Auckland, making beautiful, heart-felt music. Henika is Henrieta Tornyai, a multi-instrumentalist artist originally from Slovakia who produces music that bridges the sky between alternative rock, blues, jazz and folk, with an intensity of imagery that makes her work both compelling and challenging. Often compared to PJ Harvey, Nick Cave, and Jeff Buckley, Henika draws from many influences from Zappa to Hendrix to make music that is especially deep, emotional, and very much her own. This is an artist we will be hearing more of.
