This is a most unusual song. There are some very abrupt keychanges and odd melodic twists, but it all works. Chris Blacker has one of those voices filled with heartbreak yet optimistic at the same time. When I put this on, I was really expecting a fairly straightforward love song. What I got was so much more. Blacker understands that music needs to be interesting as well as beautiful. Blacker claims to be a pianist, composer/arranger, singer-songwriter, and musical director. But somehow, “Moment Eternal” is a song of great beauty. Give it a listen; it will surprise you at every turn.
