    Doris and the Daggers

Spiral Stairs (Pavement’s Scott Kannberg) releases his second album, and wow, it has been worth the wait.  Pavement was always one of those archetypal noise bands that were always so full of surprises, so it’s no surprise the Spiral Stairs is the same.  It has been a while, but you can’t hurry genius.  Along the way, Kannberg has started his family, lived in Australia, eaten Haggis (wow, that is bravery), and now has released his second album under the name Spiral Stairs with the help of guest appearances from Matt Berninger of The National, Broken Social Scene’s Kevin Drew and Justin Peroff, Kelley Stoltz and Shudder To Think’s Adam Wade.  This is a great album.  Thank god, Kannberg didn’t rush it, because he certainly got it right.
