    “Bow And Arrow”

    The Hiding

Kacey Johansing has this tremendous style and voice and lyric writing.  Johansing was born in Kalamazoo, Michigan and raised in the mountain towns of Colorado. After leaving Berklee College of Music in Boston, Johansing relocated to the San Francisco Bay Area, and there she delivered this beautiful style of hers.  It is very individual.  With a style that is similar to early Angel Olsen and Torres, Johansing has definitely made a niche for herself by being individualistic in writing style.  I especially love her ethereal vocals with effervescent synthesizer washes and reverberating open-tuned guitar. I love open-tuning:  it allows the musician to write songs for her voice and make these tremendous runs.  A good example of Johansing’s style is imagining Joni Mitchell playing Christine McVie songs and then making that so original.  I have been listening to Johansing non-stop.  She is one of the best.
