Wow. Siv Jakobsen has one of the most beautiful voices ever. She is from Norway, and she makes uncompromisingly immediate and intimate music. Her voice is similar to Angel Olsen, but deeper and maybe more confident. The music swirls around her but never swallows her up. Instead, the music supports and helps carry her. As she says about her new album:
The title of the album The Nordic Mellow comes from me trying to find a way to describe the sound and feel of this album. I feel very connected with my Nordic roots and our traditional and contemporary music and I think The Nordic Mellow, or nordic melancholia, is a good short description of what these songs sound like to me.
All I know, this is some of the most beautiful music I’ve heard for a long time.
