Ready For Samhain: The Prids – “Summer Cult”

    The Prids

    “Summer Cult”

Do I Look Like I’m In Love?

What a great, glimmering dark pop song.  The video harkens back to ’69-era Nico, which is as dark as you can back.  And The Prids are not a new band.  Having spearheaded the Pacific Northwest DIY scene, bassist and vocalist Mistina La Fave, vocalist and guitarist David Frederickson, drummer Gordon Nickel and keyboardist and bassist Tim Yates, The Prids’s career has spanned over 20 years.  It is now time for The Prids to make the big-time, and this is the song/album to do it.  The sound and video of “Summer Cult” reflect the dark side of the late 60’s, and it is just as relevant as today.  A darker Mazzy Star, if that’s possible, this band is perfect for the Autumn season, especially Samhain.
