Not only does Small Leaks Sink Ships have the greatest name, they also have this sound that takes The Mountain Goats one step forward melodically. Small Leaks Sink Ships is a four piece progressive art pop band currently residing in Portland, OR. Members consist of London Van Rooy, Judd Hancock, Jim Mandel, and Ryan Garner. The band merges synthetic samples and beats from scratch with the raw power of Acoustic instruments lead by a duo of distinct vocalists creating an eclectic and unique sound. These guys have had a time of it, surviving cancer and a motorcycle accident, and through it all, they have persevered. This is because they have something to say. I love their sound. This is a band that grows on you. They have a huge future in front of them. I especially love the duo of voices that adds that beauty and mystery to them. Think early but sober Modest Mouse. Love them.
