    Cat Power

    “Woman (feat. Lana Del Rey)”

What a great single.  This might be one of the best songs that both Cat Power and Lana Del Rey have created for a long time.  The verse is this great Bonnie Raitt-type blues sound, then the chorus has a definite Del Rey sound.  Cat Power has finally come into her own.  So often, she has been unfairly compared to PJ Harvey, when she is so different from her hero.  Some critics have called her the queen of ‘sadcore’.  She is more than that.  I myself am glad that she has moved back to the acoustic blues.  This is a great way to start the Autumn season.  Both Cat Power and Del Rey have needed this.  I am hoping to hear more collaborations between the two.
