    Punk Truth: Tetchy – “Fascist”

    Tetchy

    “Fascist”

What a great killer punk band that pulls no punches and really nails the coffin shut on all those fakes out there, those privileged assholes who think they know what’s going on, yet are really fascists.  When I hear Tetchy, I think of Dead Kennedys. Propagandhi, and The Clash.  Tetchy come from Brooklyn and are comprised of Guitar/Vocals – Maggie Denning, Drums – Jesse French, Bass – Dylan LaPointe, and
Guitar – Stevie Jick.  Don’t let Denning’s beautiful voice fool you; this is no sweetness and light band.  They are damned serious (though they have fun), and they are skewing all the false gods in out society.  The music is Punk/DIY/post no wave greatness.  The rhythm section of French and LaPointe kicks ass better than anyone out there, and the twin guitars of Denning and Jick remind me of Richard Hell and Robert Quinine in the Voidoids (Blank Generation, anyone.)  This is a great band, and I could kick myself for missing them at the Deutschtown Festival in Pittsburgh.  Don’t you do the the same.  Catch them live.  Buy their record.  They are truthsayers that no one listens to.  I call them Cassandra.  Listen to them before we are lost forever.

You felt bad about yourself in high school
You read about hitler and thought that he just wasn’t as bad as everybody said
You thought ‘Well hell, well that must mean that I am not, not so bad’
But shit, I’m sorry, I’m really fucking sorry but
    You cannot say that

The truth is I think you’re a fascist
And no I don’t think we can fix this
I’m past the point of giving fucks and
No I don’t want to make up

You felt bad about yourself in college too
It broke your little heart how nobody laughed at all your shitty jokes
Cause dude they’re just not funny
You thought ‘Well hell, well that must mean that
Nobody here has a sense of humor’
But shit I’m sorry. I’m not fucking sorry but
    You cannot say that

The truth is I think you’re a fascist
And no I don’t think we can fix this
I’m past the point of giving fucks and
No I don’t want to make up

The truth is I think you’re a fascist baby
And no I don’t think we can, I don’t think we can fix this
I’m past the point of giving fucks
And no I don’t want to make up

The truth is I think you’re a fascist
The truth is I think you’re a fascist
The truth is, the truth is, the truth is
The truth is I think you’re a fascist
