Bear Call have released a very restrained, reflective album that is perfect for late evening listening. Although the album is a switch from the surf sound of their earlier release, “Harsh” still has that twangy guitar sound. I love this sound; it fits their lyrics so well. The San Francisco band is comprised of Skyler Warren – guitar/vocals; Aaron Mortemore – drums; Ryan Elliott – bass; and Sam Faw – synth. Warren’s voice is so plaintive. I really love this band. Whether it’s math rock, or surf rock, Bear Call is amazing. They call their music boba-psych. That is a perfect name.
