    “The Dog/The Body”

    The Center Won’t Hold

Sleater-Kinney, one of the main cogs in the Riot Grrl movement, have come back strong with a great new album that never compromises on their principles yet is still very forward thinking and sounding.  Comprised of Corin Tucker, Carrie Brownstein, and Janet Weiss, these musicians are more relevant than ever, and they kick major ass.  They are touring this summer and fall.  Catch them.  Seriously.

LYRICS When I looked down I was a mess My face was smeared my clothes were wet My shoes untied stone in my chest I washed up on the shore again Reach out And touch me I’m stuck on the edge Reach out The darkness is winning again Reach out And see me I’m losing my head Reach out I can’t fight without you my friend And when my feet touched onto land The sweet relief the hot dry sand With one sharp breath my chest expands My body is my own again When I looked down I was a mess My face was smeared my clothes were wrecked My shoes untied my life unkept I let you break my heart again The night of election You came at me there Handed the highest Seat that we have/ in the land Reward we have Heavy and Loaded Your words struck me bare But I’ll lift my head up I’m stronger today I won’t let you rule What i think of myself You can’t rule my thoughts or My heart or my head I won’t let you rule over My thoughts again Leaded and lauded You came at me there Heavy and Loaded Your words struck me bare But I’ll lift my head up I’m stronger today I won’t let you rule What I think of myself When I check my phone today I’ll block your text, erase your name Can’t hear your voice cause mine is raised Won’t let you near my life again
