SUUNS – “Witness Protection” – The Witness
SUUNS was formed in Montreal with vocalist and guitarist Ben Shemie and guitarist and bassist Joe Yarmush got together to make some beats which quickly evolved into a few songs. The duo was soon joined by drummer Liam O’Neill and bassist and keyboardist Max Henry. (Henry left to pursue academia, but still records in the studio). They might just be one of the best examples of neo psychedelia or avant-garde rock. Shemie’s vocals float above the swirl of music, making SUUNS the best band to, as John Lennon would, “turn off your mind, relax, and float down stream”. Their music and videos are always a mix of the common with the surreal, as if Dali were directly their music, or as if, whatever they dreams, turns up on tape. The ultimate music of dreams.
