Autogramm, a synth-driven power-pop band with members from Seattle, Chicago, and Vancouver, has released their new LP “Music That Humans Can Play.” This is their first album in over two years and is available on vinyl and digital formats globally from November 17th, released by Stomp Records and Beluga Records EU. The album’s launch features a music video for the track “Born Losers,” directed by Tyler McLeod at Sasquatch Mountain Resort in British Columbia. Known for their humorous video style, the video includes a sasquatch, an impressive ski backflip, Kokanee beer, and a comical banana on a shrimp platter. “Born Losers” speaks to the theme of embracing outsider status with its memorable chorus: “We’re all born losers until someone lets us win, we’re all just outsiders until somebody lets us in.” The video humorously depicts a tale of finding acceptance among friends.

“Music That Humans Can Play” sees Autogramm drawing inspiration from The Fixx, David Bowie, Cheap Trick, The Boys, The Dickies, Jay Reatard, and Prince, resulting in an album that seamlessly blends into any 80s music collection and would be at home on a soundtrack like “Fast Times at Ridgemont High.” The album traverses various themes, from the comical to the poignant. Highlights include “Love is for Fools,” a reflection on love in the Covid era, “Born Losers” about embracing failure, “WannaBe” promoting acceptance of diverse physical forms, and “Why do we Dance?” embodying Autogramm’s ethos of uninhibited dancing. The track “Hey Allie” has a special backstory shared by CC Voltage, inspired by a challenging winter and the anticipation of his unborn daughter, symbolizing a beacon of hope during life’s darker moments.
