The Canadian pair Loving has released their latest album, Any Light, through Last Gang Records/MNRK, available for streaming HERE. Rolling Stone has spotlighted their newest track “No Mast” in their “Songs You Need to Know” playlist, following the captivating releases of “Medicine” and “Blue.” This album emerges as the quintessential winter listen, perfect for cozying up by a fire or taking a leisurely walk amidst the snow. Admirers of psych-folk and introspective soft-pop, including fans of artists like Drugdealer, Crumb, Greg Mendez, and Big Thief, will find much to appreciate in this album. Make sure to give it a listen if you haven’t already, and consider it in your upcoming coverage plans. Additionally, be reminded that their North American tour is set to begin on February 23rd (see routing details below).

Crafted by Jesse Henderson and David Parry in British Columbia, Any Light showcases a significantly more complex sound compared to its predecessors, with the inclusion of trumpets, timpani, vibraphones, strings, and organs marking new musical directions for the duo. The album delves into themes of romantic love, depression, existential doubt, and the mental impacts of navigating a world increasingly shaped by digital interactions. See “Medicine” below:

Henderson, who penned a significant portion of the album’s lyrics, shared an insight, “Reviewing all these songs collectively, I noticed a recurring theme of light throughout the album. To me, light symbolizes awareness or insight, reflecting the way many of these songs portray a change in viewpoint.”

The new track “Medicine” showcases Loving’s refined approach, exuding an effortless joy in their musical creation. The duo describes the song as, “Inspired by a friend’s journey with plant medicine in South America and a profound experience he had while there.”
