In the ever-evolving landscape of indie-pop, Los Angeles-based duo Mirrorball emerges as a beacon of innovative sound with their latest offering, “Take a Shot.” Slated for release on March 8th across all prominent streaming services, this track is a standout piece from their eagerly awaited debut EP, meticulously crafted by the esteemed Chris Coady, known for his work with Beach House and Yeah Yeah Yeahs.

    See Below:

Mirrorball, comprising the dynamic duo of Alexandra Johnstone and Scott Watson, infuses their music with a unique blend of dream pop and a touch of melancholic psych pop. This fusion has quickly catapulted them into the spotlight within the indie music scene. Their new single, “Take a Shot,” draws profound inspiration from the nostalgic photographs taken by Johnstone’s father at the Santa Anita Racetrack in the 1970s. These images, frozen in time, evoke a bygone era and serve as a muse for the song’s narrative. Johnstone reflects on the lives captured in these photographs, pondering their stories and the outcomes of their gambles on life.

“Take a Shot” is more than just a song; it’s a philosophical musing on risk-taking and the audacity to confront life’s uncertainties head-on. It challenges the listener to lay their cards on the table, embracing the unknown with open arms. This theme resonates deeply in today’s climate, making the track not only a musical journey but also a reflective exploration of human resilience and courage.

The duo first caught the public’s eye with their debut single “This Time,” released under Dangerbird Records in 2019. This initial success laid the groundwork for their collaboration with Coady, setting the stage for their upcoming EP. Mirrorball’s ability to weave personal storytelling with lush, atmospheric soundscapes promises to make “Take a Shot” a seminal piece in their burgeoning discography. As Mirrorball continues to carve their niche within the indie music domain, their latest single stands as a testament to their artistic evolution and the depth of their musical prowess.
