In their latest endeavor, Bad Bad Hats have ventured into the realm of self-production, presenting an album that epitomizes the essence of their signature sound while also pushing creative boundaries to new heights. With a bold step towards engaging their robust fanbase, the duo of Kerry Alexander (guitar/vocals) and Chris Hoge (guitar/bass) embarked on a novel songwriting journey in the fall of 2020. They tapped into the collective creativity of their Patreon supporters, crafting unique tracks that spanned a myriad of genres—from country and pop-punk to surf rock and disco—based on fan suggestions. This unconventional approach not only allowed the band to explore diverse musical landscapes but also offered a beacon of collaborative joy in the midst of challenging times.

Bad Bad Hats are celebrated for their knack for blending infectious pop melodies with the quintessential indie vibe, all while sprinkling in a few funky surprises along the way. Their skill in weaving together upbeat tunes with introspective lyrics has garnered praise from fans and critics alike, cementing their status in the indie music scene. This acclaim has opened doors to touring opportunities with a wide array of artists, from contemporary bands like The Beths and Hippo Campus to revered acts such as The Front Bottoms, Third Eye Blind, and Michelle Branch—who enlisted them for her 2022 world tour.

Fresh off a captivating performance at SXSW, Bad Bad Hats are poised to take their compelling live show on the road once more this spring. Their journey is a testament to the power of simplicity, heartfelt storytelling, and the enduring connection between an artist and their audience, proving once again that Bad Bad Hats are masters at crafting timeless indie anthems.
