We are excited to share the intriguing and inspirational new music from Salt Cathedral. In the landscape of contemporary music, the phenomenon of self-curation, subtly directed by the invisible hands of digital voyeurism and the relentless churn of social media, manifests as a multifaceted reflection on the passage of time. This thematic undercurrent propels Salt Cathedral, the Colombian-born duo comprising Juli Ronderos and Nico Losada, into the creative ether of their latest opus, Before It’s Gone. Here, the blend of organic instrumentation and poignant lyrics navigates the ephemeral nature of existence and the impact of our collective inattention on the perception of our futures.

Juli Ronderos, with her commanding vocal presence, inaugurates the album with a line that serves as both a philosophical musing and a clarion call to consciousness: “You think about the future, but it happens all the time.” This statement acts as the impetus for a deeper exploration into the now, urging listeners to reckon with the present and the unfolding future, amidst a backdrop of quotidian anxieties. Yet, it’s the manner in which Salt Cathedral articulates this message—through the emotive power of Ronderos’ voice, rising in isolation—that transforms it into an introspective quest. The duo interrogates the concept of future’s permanence in an age where technological saturation threatens to distort our forward-looking visions, cautioning against the inertia bred from excess consumption without creation.

Contrary to harboring a dystopian outlook, ‘Before It’s Gone’ is steeped in an optimistic ethos, acknowledging the inherent beauty in hopeful persistence against the backdrop of global upheaval. Ronderos and Losada, navigating their identities as immigrants, imbue their work with a resilience and optimism that has been a hallmark of Salt Cathedral’s sound. Their music is a sanctuary of imagination, positivity, and joy—even as it confronts the sobering realities of our time. The album is a testament to their decade-long camaraderie and collaborative synergy, a celebration of the trust and unique sonic landscapes that can only emerge from their shared creative journey.

‘Before It’s Gone’ stands as a compelling narrative on the intricacies of time, technology, and human emotion, inviting listeners to a reflective odyssey on staying present, mindful, and hopeful amidst the ceaseless flow of life. Through Salt Cathedral’s lens, we are offered a momentary respite, a space to ponder the contours of our existence and the paths that lead us towards the light of optimism, even in the face of uncertainty.
