Crumb is a band that has garnered attention and praise for their distinctive sound, which blends elements of psych-rock, jazz, and indie pop. The band, formed in Boston, Massachusetts, consists of Lila Ramani (guitar, vocals), Brian Aronow (synth, keys, saxophone), Jesse Brotter (bass), and Jonathan Gilad (drums). They first came together in 2016, and their music has been characterized by its dreamy atmosphere, intricate melodies, and introspective lyrics.

Crumb’s musical journey began with the release of their first EP, “Crumb,” in 2016, followed by “Locket” in 2017. These early releases established the band’s unique sound and laid the groundwork for their future work. Their debut full-length album, “Jinx,” released in 2019, was met with critical acclaim. The album showcased the band’s ability to craft cohesive, immersive soundscapes that felt both nostalgic and fresh. Ramani’s soft, ethereal vocals float over a complex arrangement of jazz-influenced rhythms and psychedelic guitar lines, creating a sound that is both intimate and expansive.

One of the most distinctive aspects of Crumb’s music is their ability to blend various musical influences into a sound that is uniquely their own. The band’s members have diverse musical backgrounds, which is reflected in their eclectic sound. Their music often features unexpected shifts in tempo and mood, from serene and dreamy to upbeat and groovy, always maintaining a seamless flow.

Crumb’s visual aesthetic, often reflected in their music videos and album art, complements their sonic identity. The band collaborates with visual artists to create imagery that captures the surreal, dream-like quality of their music. This attention to visual art adds an additional layer to their work, enhancing the listener’s experience.

Crumb is set to release their next album ‘Amama’ on May 17th, 2024. A record that will include 12 songs (their most songs yet on an album). The 3 singles they have released are not a departure from their sound but a pleasant and comforting take on the genres they have perfected with their smooth psych jazz and bedroom/dream pop.
