Nisa has revealed her inaugural album Shapeshifting, set to release on April 26 through Tender Loving Empire Records, showcasing lead singles “Smokescreen,” “Vertigo,” and “Currents” which have quickly earned critical praise from media outlets such as Gorilla vs Bear, Rolling Stone, Bob Boilen Favorites Now, FLOOD, Under The Radar, BrooklynVegan, and Northern Transmissions, among others. The solo endeavor of Brooklyn’s own Nisa Lumaj has also received recognition for its early singles from prestigious publications like The New York Times and Pitchfork.
Originating from Albanian immigrant parents, Nisa’s latest work navigates a path of self-discovery and affirmation, piecing together a unified identity. This exploration is vividly conveyed through a mix of disorienting electronic effects, robust guitar sounds, ethereal vocal tones, and distinctive melodies.
