    Rating 9/10 – EXCELLENT Album

Love Fame Tragedy’s Life Is A Killer emerges as a profoundly personal and introspective journey through the complexities of relationships, self-reflection, and the dichotomy of life as a touring artist versus family man. Matthew “Murph” Murphy, the creative force behind Love Fame Tragedy and known for his role in The Wombats, delves deep into his experiences, culminating in an album that’s both darker and more honest than his debut. This shift towards a rawer, more intimate narrative landscape is palpable, with the inclusion of voice notes from his wife adding a unique, deeply personal layer to the album. Tracks like “Don’t You Want To Sleep With Someone Normal?” reflect on the turmoil and redemption found in his personal life, especially highlighting the challenges and revelations encountered on the path to sobriety and self-betterment.

Life Is A Killer stands out not just for its lyrical honesty but also for its musical diversity, echoing Murph’s journey through the darker and more reflective corridors of his mind. The recording process itself mirrored the album’s introspective nature, with Murph and his collaborators, including renowned producers Jacknife Lee and Mark Crew, navigating through creative challenges and evolving the project’s direction to truly capture the essence of his experiences. Despite fewer guest vocalists than on previous projects, this decision underscores the album’s introspective focus, allowing Murph’s personal narrative to shine unencumbered.

Through Life Is A Killer, Love Fame Tragedy invites listeners into a candid exploration of life’s complexities, making it an essential listen for those intrigued by the interplay of personal growth, artistic expression, and the unvarnished truths of the human experience.
