Traversing from the bustling streets of NYC to Richmond’s artistic hubs, and into the serene wilderness of Oregon, Ghost Piss’s musical journey, led by the multifaceted River Allen, has been nothing short of evolutionary. With a dedication to refining their self-taught DIY essence and delving into novel terrains of emotion and exploration, “Dream Girl” emerges as a poignant homage to River’s transformative experiences throughout their twenties. This milestone is marked by the launch of their inaugural full-length album, “Dream Girl,” complemented by the premiere of their third music video, “Rude Dudes” (See below).

The genesis of River’s artistic voyage can be traced back to a serendipitous discovery: a piano abandoned on the roadside, a discovery made by River’s mother when they were just three years old. This fortuitous find set the stage for a journey filled with self-directed learning and creative exploration, culminating in a distinctive sound that paved the way for River to secure over a hundred gigs nationwide even before their debut EP, ‘Blushing,’ was unveiled under the Brooklyn-based label Styles Upon Styles in 2021. The adaptability of Ghost Piss’s music has facilitated performances alongside a diverse lineup of artists, including The Space Lady, Barrie, Sporting Life, and Fuck U Pay Us, showcasing their broad appeal.

River’s eclectic experiences — from captivating performances in NYC’s vibrant dance venues to nurturing nature in the Oregon forests as a botanist with the National Park Service — have been instrumental in shaping their unique Electro Pop sound. This sound melds catchy mainstream pop melodies with robust house rhythms and the minimalist influence of their esteemed composer, Erik Satie, embracing repetition as a vehicle for both progression and reflection. The album “Dream Girl” showcases River’s adept use of the MC-505, demonstrating a commitment to pushing the boundaries of musical innovation with a singular piece of equipment.
