    Rating: 9/10 – EXCELLENT Album

Pond’s latest release, “Stung!,” is their tenth studio album and exemplifies their knack for blending psychedelic rock with innovative sounds. The album opens energetically, setting a vibrant tone that captures the listener’s attention immediately. Each track is a showcase of the band’s ability to fuse catchy hooks with complex instrumentation, creating a rich and immersive listening experience.

The title track, “(I’m) Stung,” is a standout, with Nicholas Allbrook’s introspective lyrics and emotional depth resonating deeply. Written during a period of personal reflection, the song explores themes of unrequited love and resilience. The intricate melodies and dynamic arrangements add to the track’s poignancy.

Recorded partly at drummer Jay Watson’s home studio and finalized in a state-of-the-art facility in Dunsborough, “Stung!” benefits from top-notch production quality. Influences from Fleetwood Mac, Outkast, The Rolling Stones, and The Beatles are evident, enriching the album with a diverse sonic palette that feels both nostalgic and fresh.

“Stung!” solidifies Pond’s place in the music scene as innovators of modern psychedelic rock. The album’s diverse styles and cohesive production make it a compelling listen, reflecting the band’s evolution while staying true to their roots. Pond’s ability to push boundaries while maintaining a distinct sound ensures that “Stung!” is both bold and honest, offering a rich, immersive experience for fans and new listeners alike.
