Jessie Ware and Romy have just released a new collaboration titled “Lift You Up.” The track, which premiered during Romy’s surprise appearance at Jessie’s headline performance on the West Holts Stage at Glastonbury, is now available via Interscope Records / PMR. You can listen to it here.

Produced by the acclaimed Stuart Price (known for his work with Madonna and Kylie), “Lift You Up” is a vibrant and catchy disco-infused house anthem featuring the distinctive voices of two of the UK’s most influential artists. The song seamlessly blends their unique sounds, creating a perfect summer anthem.

The friendship between Jessie Ware and Romy began when The xx performed an intimate gig under the Westway in London. Their bond strengthened when The xx invited Jessie to perform at their Night & Day Festival in Berlin. Reflecting on this, Jessie said, “It was such a cool seal of approval – I sang with them on stage, and from then on, Romy and I became friends. She was a fan of my music, and I was a fan of hers.”

Over the years, Jessie and Romy have supported each other’s creative endeavors, co-writing songs like “Share It All” from the deluxe edition of Tough Love. Now, they’ve taken their collaboration to new heights with “Lift You Up.”

Speaking about the new single, Jessie shared, “I was thrilled to be in the studio with my friend, hearing her beautiful voice. I’m so proud of this record. It’s about us being too hard on ourselves and not believing in ourselves, something many can relate to.”

She added, “It’s special that Romy also worked with Stuart Price on her last record. Debuting the song live at Glastonbury feels like a tradition for me now, and I can’t wait for everyone to hear us celebrating each other.”

Romy echoed these sentiments, saying, “I’ve admired Jessie’s music for a long time, and it was incredible to finally work together after years of friendship. We all need a friend to lift us up sometimes. I remember Jessie supporting me backstage at a festival when I was just starting my solo career. That moment inspired the lyrics of this song.”

She continued, “Working with Stuart Price again and the brilliant Clarence Coffee Jr. was fantastic. We wanted this song to be uplifting and celebrate togetherness. Sharing it at Glastonbury is the perfect way to do that.”
