    Rex Orange County, Alexander

Rex Orange County is set to release his highly anticipated new album, *The Alexander Technique*, on September 6th via RCA Records. This album sees Rex taking full control of production alongside notable talents Teo Halm (Rosalía, SZA, Beyoncé) and Jim Reed, a longstanding member of the Rex Orange County touring band. Additionally, James Blake contributes his production prowess and features on the track “Look Me In The Eyes.”

To celebrate the announcement, Rex is dropping two new singles with accompanying music videos: “Alexander” and “Guitar Song.” These tracks showcase the album’s diverse soundscape. “Alexander,” the album’s opener, comes with a visually captivating video directed by Nick Walker that delves into the album’s thematic inspiration. In contrast, “Guitar Song” features intimate studio footage of Rex captured by Alexandra Waespi at Decoy Studios in England, offering a glimpse into the album’s creation process.

*The Alexander Technique* is aptly named after a therapeutic practice that treats back pain to address deeper health issues. This metaphor reflects Rex’s approach to his most raw and personal album yet. By stripping back his sound to a minimalist blend of stream-of-consciousness R&B and indie-folk, while maintaining the orchestral lushness fans love, Rex embarks on a new chapter of his career with this release. The album is a heartfelt diary, documenting his introspections and experiences over recent years.

“The Alexander Technique is very much a look into my own brain and experiences over the last few years – it’s almost a diary,” Rex explains. The album, which took years to complete, started before and finished after his 2022 release *WHO CARES?*, captures an artist evolving in real-time and navigating the inevitable growing pains. “I’ve made a lot of love songs over the years, and I feel as though this is the first time I’m trying to make a project about everything in life. In my mind, it’s exactly what I’ve always wanted to make.”

Listen to and watch “Alexander” and “Guitar Song” now, and check out all the details on *The Alexander Technique* below.
