    Jorja smith, high

Jorja Smith’s return last month with her stunning single “High” has now been accompanied by a vibrant new music video. Filmed in her hometown of Walsall, the video captures Jorja in a state of celebration, exuding joy and a zest for life. Directed by the talented KC Locke, the visual is a fast-paced, kaleidoscopic journey that mirrors the exhilarating energy of the track itself.

Jorja shared her excitement about the collaboration, expressing, “I always wanted to do something with the talented KC! I just wanted to have some fun with this one!” KC echoed this sentiment, noting, “Jorja is a real one. It was a pleasure to finally link up and bring the world of ‘High’ to life.”

“High” is a sleek, house-infused anthem that pulses with summer vibes, crafted by her longtime collaborators DAMEDAME*. Reflecting on the inspiration behind the track, Jorja explains, “It’s a song about finding a friend within myself. Even through the lows, you have to find the highs.” This sentiment is echoed in her lyrics, “I’ve had my lows, You weren’t always there for me, But time has shown, And I can love myself again.”

This release marks Jorja’s first original music since her critically acclaimed second album, *falling or flying*, which dropped late last year. The album, with its mix of sleek R&B and raw alternative sounds, showcased Jorja embracing a new chapter in her artistic journey—acknowledging her inner struggles while learning to love and respect herself. The album quickly garnered praise, solidifying its place as one of 2023’s standout records and earning Jorja a BRIT nomination for Best R&B at the 2024 ceremony.

Jorja Smith stands as one of the most compelling voices in British music today, writing with an intensity and urgency that few can rival. Since the release of her debut album *Lost & Found* six years ago, she has captivated audiences worldwide with her evocative songwriting, powerful delivery, and raw emotional depth.

In recent years, as she’s navigated her mid-twenties, Jorja has undergone a reflective and transformative period, evolving both as a songwriter and as a woman. Through it all, she’s remained in control of her journey, growing stronger and more self-assured with each step. With “High,” Jorja Smith reminds us that no matter the highs or lows, she’s thriving and fully in command of her destiny.
