Valley Embraces Change with Emotionally Charged Single ‘Let It Rain’

Toronto-based alternative-pop band Valley has once again struck an emotional chord with their latest single, “Let It Rain.” This fourth offering from their forthcoming album Water The Flowers, Pray For A Garden, set to drop on August 30 via Capitol Records/Universal Music Canada, showcases the band’s signature blend of introspection and sonic richness.

Drummer and vocalist Karah James frames “Let It Rain” as a “Saturn return” track, steeped in the symbolism of life’s inevitable shifts. The song encapsulates the band’s journey through change, capturing the raw emotions that accompany growth and acceptance.

Frontman Rob Laska eloquently articulates the heart of the song, describing it as an ode to the enduring presence of the band in their lives amid the turbulence of love and loss. “It’s very much dedicated to the band and how it’s been the one constant in our lives… Acceptance of growing old and learning to be okay with that is at times a difficult conversation to have with yourself,” Laska shares, painting the track as a reflection on confronting the storms of life and realizing the wealth of experiences still ahead.

Musically, “Let It Rain” channels the energy of the band’s early days, capturing the rawness and spontaneity of four musicians playing together in a room, just like they did as teenagers. The track builds to an emotional crescendo, delivering what Laska describes as a “sonic release” that tugs at the heartstrings, evoking a sense of nostalgia powerful enough to bring tears. It’s a piece of Valley that, as Laska puts it, will remain forever embedded in the song, making it one of the most poignant tracks the band has ever crafted.
