Canadian-Palestinian singer-songwriter and social activist Nemahsis has just unveiled her highly anticipated debut album, Verbathim, marking a pivotal moment in her independent music journey. Released under her own imprint, the album is a testament to her resilience and creativity. In her own words, Nemahsis reflects, “With the most turbulence and misfortune handed to me, I’m finally embracing the bad luck by releasing on the most unlucky day of the year. Verbathim is a fully independent album by a fully independent artist, directly from me to you.” Her message highlights the deep connection she shares with her fans, thanking them for pre-saving songs, streaming singles, and engaging with her across platforms—making this release possible without the backing of a major label.

Accompanying the album drop is her latest single and video, “Spinning Plates,” a hauntingly beautiful visual that showcases Nemahsis’ growing reputation for cinematic storytelling. Directed by Norman Wong and Amy Gardner, the video mirrors the emotional depth of the song—a piano-driven meditation on identity, rejection, and self-preservation. As the camera circles her, Nemahsis is seen crafting and destroying imperfect pottery, a metaphor for the delicate balance of life and art. This minimalist yet impactful visual, much like her previous work “Coloured Concrete,” continues to solidify her as an artist pushing boundaries, both musically and visually.
