LA-based post-punk band Agender just want to look good for the apocalypse with their latest cheeky, punk-disco track “Things Things Things” out today. It’s a lighthearted commentary on consumerism and the band invites listeners to join them on a shopping trip with its accompanying self-directed official music video. Plus, the band promises to share their punchy, synth-punk third album, Berserk, which captures the band’s distinctive manic, unhinged energy that matches living in today’s world, early next year.

LA-based post-punk band Agender deliver a sharp, cheeky commentary on consumerism with their latest punk-disco track, “Things Things Things.” Dropping today alongside a self-directed music video, the track invites listeners on a satirical shopping spree, poking fun at the endless chase for material satisfaction. With a punchy blend of cutting guitars, melodic synths, and disco drums, Agender create an infectious anthem perfect for the manic energy of modern times.

The lyrics are sharp and sardonic, with lead singer/guitarist Romy Hoffman declaring, “I know everything is bad, I just wanna look good for the apocalypse.” It’s a playful yet biting reflection on the hollow nature of consumer culture, underpinned by a pulsating bassline that Hoffman says was the starting point for the song. As the disco beat and guitars fell into place, the song wrote itself, tapping into the disillusionment of late-stage capitalism. Produced by Hoffman and David Scott Stone (LCD Soundsystem), mixed by Spencer Hartling (Self Improvement), and mastered by Bob Weston (Shellac), “Things Things Things” is a dance-ready track that highlights Agender’s knack for blending urgency with fun.

Looking ahead, the band promises more of this chaotic, unhinged energy on their upcoming third album, Berserk, due early next year. If “Things Things Things” is any indication, Agender is poised to soundtrack the end times with style.
