    Melissa Weikart, easy

French-American artist Melissa Weikart has announced her upcoming EP, Easy, set for release on January 17, and has unveiled its captivating title track. Premiering on French national public radio, “Easy“ provides an early glimpse into the Paris-born, Boston-raised singer-songwriter’s evolving sound, which has grown more textured since her debut album, Here, There. The avant-pop single showcases Weikart’s sophisticated approach to blending delicate piano melodies with new electronic elements, marking a fresh direction in her solo work. The track’s layered production adds a sense of depth to her music, complementing her intricate songwriting and emotive vocal delivery.

“Easy” arrives with a music video directed by Alfie Johnson, filmed in the atmospheric former residence of poet Dylan Thomas. The visuals amplify the song’s balance between romance and uncertainty, mirroring the lyrical themes that explore love’s contradictions—its ability to transform the mundane into the magical while also introducing turmoil. As Weikart explains, the song is a reflection on the dual nature of love: “We’re trying to make it easy, but it’s rife with contradictions.”

Weikart’s rising profile has garnered attention from outlets like Beats Per Minute, Our Culture, and PopMatters, and she has earned accolades in France, including the Nancy Jazz Emerging Artist Prize and the Concours National de Jazz à la Défense Instrumentalist Prize. With “Easy,” Weikart demonstrates her growth as an artist, offering a poignant and artfully crafted introduction to the forthcoming EP.
