HEALTH Unleashes “RAT WARS ULTRA EDITION,” A Dark and Thrilling Expansion of Their 2023 Masterpiece

HEALTH is back with RAT WARS ULTRA EDITION, a fierce and brooding expansion of their critically acclaimed 2023 album RAT WARS, released via Loma Vista Recordings. This deluxe release packs a punch with a new four-track EP, led by the ferocious single “FREE TO DIE”—a collaboration with industrial rock pioneers Filter. The track melds HEALTH’s signature apocalyptic energy with Filter’s aggressive spirit, forming an experimental soundscape that draws from industrial, electronic, metal, and avant-garde influences. The result is a raw, noise-rock anthem that feels both chaotic and calculated.

Alongside “FREE TO DIE,” the EP offers a stellar lineup of recent collaborations. “ASHAMED,” featuring Lauren Mayberry, showcases a hypnotic blend of darkwave and pop sensibilities, while “THE DRAIN,” a track born from HEALTH’s work with Bad Omens and SWARM, delivers heavy, ominous tones originally featured on the CONCRETE JUNGLE OST. Fans are also treated to HEALTH’s haunting take on Deftones’ “Be Quiet and Drive (Far Away)” in a Spotify Singles cover that reimagines the track through their distinct, doom-laden lens.

This expanded release follows HEALTH’s high-profile festival appearances at Riot Fest and Louder Than Life, as well as a live session with KEXP and an insightful conversation at the GRAMMY Museum. Their recent success on the road continues with a headlining European and UK tour, while fans around the globe eagerly engage in the sold-out ‘RAT-BASED WARFARE TOUR.’

RAT WARS stands as a pinnacle in HEALTH’s discography, likening the band to trailblazing acts like Nine Inch Nails and Ministry for their ability to blur the lines between metal, electronic, and pop music. Originally released in December 2023, the album has since soared to new heights, amassing over 24 million streams and debuting at #1 on Apple’s Alternative Albums Chart. It also landed in the Top 10 of Spotify’s Albums Chart, with glowing coverage from Revolver, Kerrang!, and Alternative Press.

This latest chapter cements HEALTH’s status as one of the most innovative forces in the heavy music scene. Not only have they forged impressive collaborations—including a remix of Lamb of God’s “Laid To Rest”—but they’ve also released a ‘SELECTED WORKS’ compilation across streaming platforms, featuring their most beloved tracks. Whether pushing creative boundaries in the studio or bringing their chaotic energy to packed venues worldwide, HEALTH’s relentless ambition and willingness to experiment continue to redefine the future of heavy music.
