Japanese Breakfast is back with a bang! Michelle Zauner has announced her first new album in four years, For Melancholy Brunettes (& Sad Women), produced by the inimitable Blake Mills and arriving on March 21 via Dead Oceans. The lead single, “Orlando in Love,” is a heart-melting masterpiece paired with a stunning lyric video—watch it below to dive into the album’s emotional landscape.

This spring, Zauner embarks on an expansive tour to celebrate her new album, kicking off with not one but two performances at the 2025 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. From there, the tour spans the globe, with stops across the U.S., Canada, the UK, and Europe, including festival stages and intimate venues alike. The tour wraps on September 9 in Minneapolis, with Ginger Root supporting most North American dates. This promises to be a tour that fans—and newcomers—won’t want to miss.

For Melancholy Brunettes (& Sad Women) marks Japanese Breakfast’s fourth studio album and a deeply personal evolution from her critically acclaimed 2021 record, Jubilee. In the years since, Zauner has proven herself a creative powerhouse, from releasing the gorgeous Sable video game soundtrack to penning her best-selling memoir, Crying in H Mart, now set to become a movie directed by Will Sharpe (The White Lotus). Oh, and let’s not forget her Marvel hit, “Agatha All Along”!

With a track record like this and a new album that promises raw emotion and sonic brilliance, 2025 is gearing up to be Japanese Breakfast’s year. Don’t sleep on the tour—check out the dates below, and get ready to immerse yourself in the melancholy magic of Michelle Zauner.
