Los Angeles trio Your Grandparents—producer Cole Thompson and vocalists DaCosta and Jean Carter—are kicking off an exciting new era with their signing to indie powerhouse drink sum wtr. They’re making waves with their latest single, “The Dial,” a soulful and uplifting preview of their highly anticipated upcoming project. Premiering exclusively on FLOOD Magazine, the track delivers a warm, breezy vibe crafted alongside co-producer Josh Conway (The Marías), blending smooth rap flows with golden-hued melodies. Carter’s heartfelt hook, “Now when my sun sets, and I look at the dial / I wanna surely say I wasted no time,” perfectly captures the song’s message of patience and perseverance. As DaCosta puts it, “Things will work out when they’re supposed to. The best way to get the most out of hard situations is to keep your head down and work with integrity.”

Formed in 2014, Your Grandparents—longtime friends since middle school—chose their name as a tribute to the elders who shaped their musical tastes and introduced them to timeless classics. What started with hip-hop soon expanded into a rich fusion of R&B, soul, rock, and blues, all driven by a deep sense of reflection and authenticity. Their partnership with drink sum wtr (home to artists like aja monet, KARI FAUX, and Seafood Sam) signals an exciting new chapter in their journey. With more music on the horizon, 2025 is set to be a defining year for Your Grandparents. Stay tuned.
