Corbin Announces Crisis Kid, a Haunting Reinvention of His Sound

The enigmatic Midwest singer-songwriter Corbin is back, and he’s emerging from the shadows with a stunning new sonic evolution. His long-awaited fourth studio album, Crisis Kid, drops April 3, marking his first full-length release since 2021’s Ghost with Skin. Alongside the announcement, Corbin has unleashed “Come Down”, a hypnotic new single accompanied by a Hendrik Schneider-directed visual trip (Schneider has worked with Charli XCX, Drain Gang, and Shygirl).

A true underground chameleon, Corbin sheds past skins yet again, trading in the icy, cavernous R&B of his early years for a reinvented, guitar-driven sound—yet his signature introspective lyricism and spectral delivery remain as potent as ever.

    A Surrealist Vision: “Come Down”

The accompanying video for “Come Down” is a fever dream drenched in West Coast sun, following Corbin—dressed in a tattered bunny suit—as he embarks on a haunting pilgrimage through Los Angeles. The journey leads him to a surreal, almost sacrificial moment: he draws his own blood and injects it into a glass spiral contraption, resting on a mirror under the blazing sky. “The sun signifies hope in seemingly hopeless places,” Corbin cryptically explains. It’s a mesmerizing blend of despair and transcendence, perfectly aligning with the album’s themes of crisis and transformation.

A New Era, A New Legacy

The album will also feature “Carbon Monoxide”, his latest single, which has already drawn critical praise. PAPER hailed Corbin’s evolution, noting how he maintains his unmistakable essence while shifting into new sonic landscapes: “For an artist who emerged with such a distinctive, indelible style, it’s invigorating to hear a change in atmosphere and direction without sacrificing that initial fingerprint that made him an icon of underground pop.”

Adding to the momentum, Corbin’s Clown on Stage North American Tour sold out immediately, proving that his devoted cult following remains as fervent as ever. The nine-date run, featuring LUCY (Cooper B. Handy) and Psymun, kicks off April 29 in Washington, D.C., with stops in New York, Los Angeles, and his hometown of St. Paul.

A Decade of Influence, A Triumphant Return

This next chapter for Corbin follows the official DSP re-release of his now-iconic 2014 track “Without You”, originally released under his Spooky Black moniker. That track—equal parts meme, myth, and masterpiece—cemented Corbin as a pioneer at the intersection of internet culture and modern music, inspiring a generation of hyper-online artists and reshaping the underground R&B aesthetic.

Despite his reclusive nature, Corbin’s influence spans genres and generations. He has collaborated with Future, Chief Keef, Skrillex, Trippie Redd, Ski Mask the Slump God, and contributed to Kid Laroi’s “Not Fair” (220M+ streams). His 2017 debut as Corbin, Mourn—released via Shlohmo’s Wedidit collective—further pushed his artistry into new, uncharted emotional depths. By 2021’s Ghost with Skin, he was blending haunted R&B with raw acoustic melodies and hard-nosed percussion, carving out a genre-defying space entirely his own.

Now, after a period of isolation and reflection, Corbin is ready to reclaim his place as one of music’s most singular, evocative voices. Crisis Kid promises to be a sonic resurrection, a record that reaffirms his knack for transformation while staying true to the vulnerability and raw emotion that have always set him apart.

Mark your calendars. April 3. The Crisis Kid is coming.
