Karneef shares “Do You Know a Man”, the second single from his upcoming album It’s How You Say It, out April 25. Featuring Teddy Kadanoff, the track channels ‘60s psychedelic rock with a cinematic, Italian horror-inspired feel. Originally an instrumental, it evolved when Teddy joined the band, adding lyrics that reflect her experiences navigating friendships with older men.

Recorded in just eight hours, the song draws influence from The Beatles, Jefferson Airplane, Cream, and jazz vocalist Blossom Dearie. Teddy, recovering from dental surgery at the time, took on vocals after being unable to play trombone, shaping her role in the band.

The album, Karneef’s first in nine years, is an eclectic seven-track journey inspired by jazz-fusion greats like Tony Williams, Weather Report, and Lenny White. It features a lineup including Dolphin Hyperspace’s Logan Kane & Nicole McCabe, Adam Ratner (Knower), Anatole Muster, Brad Barr (Barr Brothers), and Grammy winner Housefly. Recorded partly at the Barr Brothers’ studio, It’s How You Say It captures Karneef’s bold, avant-garde spirit.

A former drummer for Cadence Weapon, Sean Nicholas Savage, Doldrums, and Jef Barbara, Karneef launched his solo career with Love Between Us (2012), followed by Musique Impossible (2015) and Phoof (2016), earning praise from Brooklyn Vegan, Exclaim, and VICE—plus an opening slot for Thundercat and a performance at David Lynch’s Silencio in Paris.
