L.A. Witch returns darker and sharper than ever with “Icicle,” the haunting new single from their upcoming album DOGGOD, out April 4, 2025 via Suicide Squeeze. Premiering today on VICE alongside a revealing Q&A, “Icicle” slices through their sun-baked mystique with chilling precision. Sade Sanchez delivers cool, monotone vocals over warped new wave grooves, singing, “Icicle / Won’t you cleanse my soul / You’re sharp and cold / Purity, come make me bleed.”
The track, written during a personal low, turns pain into ritual—channeling the icicle as a cold, crystalline blade of spiritual sacrifice. “It’s the coldest song on the record,” says Sanchez, describing it as a fusion of Frank Sinatra and Ian Curtis. A flickering, horror-inspired video adds a playful twist to the song’s deadly sincerity.
DOGGOD pushes the band into new terrain, both musically and physically—recorded in Paris, expanding their palette of tones and existential themes. The title, a palindrome fusing DOG and GOD, explores devotion, love, and power dynamics through the lens of loyalty and submission.
To celebrate, L.A. Witch will host a Bandcamp Listening Party on April 2 at 2:30pm PT / 5:30pm ET. A spring tour with DAIISTAR and Chokecherry follows—full dates below.
Stay tuned. DOGGOD might just be their most intense offering yet.
