Montreal’s genre-defying artist Karneef shares the radiant third single, “Insides Match the Outside” (ft. Adam Ratner), from his upcoming album It’s How You Say It, arriving April 25. Part philosophical reflection, part sonic exploration, the track fuses introspective lyrics with an eclectic blend of jazz-fusion textures and radiant guitar work.

“This song is about realizing the shine on the outside won’t fix what’s inside,” says Karneef, who channels this theme into his most emotionally grounded work to date. The album—his first in nearly a decade—emerged from a period of profound personal transformation. “I’ve had to completely rethink how I express myself,” he shares. The result is an electrifying, spiritual, and daringly eclectic record.

It’s How You Say It is a genre-hopping journey, taking cues from jazz-fusion legends like Weather Report and Lenny White, while enlisting a kaleidoscopic roster of collaborators including Dolphin Hyperspace, Anatole Muster, Brad Barr, and Grammy-winner Housefly.

Karneef celebrates the album’s release with a launch show at Montreal’s Sotterenea on April 30.
