Celebrated filmmaker and artist Sally Potter steps into the spotlight once again—but this time with a microphone. Her upcoming album ANATOMY, out May 2 on Bella Union, is a visceral, genre-defying work that channels the emotional depth and visionary scope she’s long brought to the screen.

Best known for directing iconic films like Orlando (starring Tilda Swinton), Ginger and Rosa (with Elle Fanning and Christina Hendricks), and Rage (featuring Judi Dench and Jude Law), Potter now brings her fearless storytelling into a sonic realm. ANATOMY is a sweeping, poetic meditation on our relationship with the Earth and with each other—exploring the fragility of life, the urgency of connection, and the shifting rhythms of the natural world.

The album is anything but expected: part experimental, part theatrical, and wholly singular. With sounds that stretch from cinematic ballads to avant-garde textures, ANATOMY feels like a collection of sonic vignettes—deeply personal and globally conscious all at once.

Already recognized by artists like Japanese Breakfast, who recently cited Orlando as a major visual influence in a THEM. feature, Potter continues to shape culture in ways both profound and unpredictable. ANATOMY is the next fearless chapter. Watching “Coming Home” below:
