Anamanaguchi kicks off a bold new chapter with Anyway, their third album and first true rock record, out August 8 via Polyvinyl. Known for fusing chiptune with digital chaos, the NYC quartet now leans fully into analog grit—trading pixelated melodies for fuzzed-out guitars, soaring vocals, and raw live energy.

Produced by Grammy-winner Dave Fridmann (The Flaming Lips, MGMT), Anyway captures the band at their most human. Written together under one roof—first in the legendary American Football house, then at Fridmann’s studio—the album trades mouse clicks for tape reels, and emotional distance for group catharsis.

Lead single “Darcie” is a sugar-rush of power-pop nostalgia, an ode to the unsung heroes who quietly brighten our lives. “It’s a thank-you song,” says Peter Berkman. “It’s easy to focus on the loudest voices in the room, but we wanted to spotlight joy.”

Once aiming to write an album about rage, Anamanaguchi instead rediscovered joy, togetherness, and their own literal voices—Anyway is the first time every member sings on record. It’s a celebration of connection in a disconnected world. Listen to “Darcie” below:
