    Dear Boy – “Kelly Green”

Out June 20 via Last Gang Records

LA indie rockers Dear Boy make a triumphant return with “Kelly Green,” a lush, fuzz-soaked anthem that blends euphoric shoegaze with the heart-on-sleeve spirit of ‘90s Britpop. It’s their first single from an upcoming sophomore album, and it’s a total rush—jangly guitars, hypnotic vocals, and a rush of emotional urgency that feels like the moment just before everything changes.

“Kelly Green” captures that breathless pause before you tell someone how you really feel. The track radiates with sonic confidence and poetic vulnerability, marking a bold evolution from their meticulous debut Forever Sometimes to a freer, more visceral sound—recorded in just two weeks with producer Aron Kobayashi Ritch (Momma, Snail Mail).

Think Slowdive meets The Smashing Pumpkins by way of Echo Park sunsets. With nods to Pulp, Oasis, and early R.E.M., but never stuck in nostalgia, Dear Boy is crafting rock music that feels now. Raw, melodic, and gloriously alive.

Their new LP arrives later this year. Until then, take a deep breath and dive into Kelly Green—it’s the sound of a band falling back in love with music, and taking you with them.
