American composer and multi-instrumentalist John Also Bennett, now based in Athens, Greece, unveils “Ston Elaióna,” the meditative title track from his forthcoming album Στoν Eλαιώνα / Ston Elaióna, out July 25 via Shelter Press. Written with the Parthenon in view and inspired by quiet mornings among the chaos of Athens, the piece fuses bass flute, Yamaha DX7ii synth, and field recordings into a warm, minimal tapestry.
Rooted in just intonation and grounded in physical presence, the album captures Bennett’s shift from nomadic wanderer to settled artist, channeling the ancient landscape and modern noise of Greece into nine intimate, electroacoustic compositions. Known for his work with FORMA, CV & JAB, and Jon Gibson’s ensemble, this solo release finds Bennett returning to a deeply personal and reflective creative state.
“Ston Elaióna” is a sonic postcard from a city of ruins and rebirth—simple, profound, and alive in the present.
