Venice Beach psych-rock duo Movie Club is back — and heavier than ever. Their new three-song EP Black Mamba bites with raw energy, cinematic flair, and their most aggressive sound to date. Recorded and mixed by Mike Kriebel (Oh Sees, Ty Segall), the record features wild contributions from bassist Tim Lefebvre (David Bowie) and baritone sax master David Ralicke (St. Vincent).
The EP drops alongside Grindhouse Venice, a double music video experience blending blood, humor, and grit. Directed, edited, and performed entirely by drummer Jessamyn Violet and guitarist Vince Cuneo, the 10-minute visual pairs the swagger of Tarantino with the chaos of Venice Beach. “Python” stars Vince as a local clown causing mischief, while “Black Mamba” flips the script with Jessamyn as a fierce assassin.
Out June 6, this release also kicks off their Psychedelic Circus Tour (June 10–19) and the launch of Jessamyn’s second novel Venice Peach (Maudlin House, June 10). Art meets madness — and Movie Club lives at the center of it all. Check it out below:
