Montreal’s cosmic jazz-soul alchemist Karneef just dropped a jaw-dropping live performance video of his latest single, “If Only You Could See Your Face Right Now”, recorded during his guest appearance at the Montreal International Jazz Festival alongside the boundary-pushing duo Clown Core.
Watch/Listen: Karneef – “If Only You Could See Your Face Right Now” ft. Nicole McCabe
From the new album: It’s How You Say It
Featuring a face-melting sax solo by Nicole McCabe, the track is a psychedelic jazz-funk throwdown wrapped in velvet grooves and surreal reflections. “What someone sees, I’m not sure it’s the same as what I see,” Karneef says. “Quantum-level type stuff.”
Imagine Sun Ra, Thundercat, and BADBADNOTGOOD holding a séance with Prince on synths. That’s the neighborhood. Karneef’s music slinks between genres, soaked in analog warmth, existential rhythm, and a wink of wit. With collaborators like Anatole Muster, Logan Kane, and Brad Barr, he crafts sonic worlds where soul floats through nebulae and jazz dances in zero gravity.
‘It’s How You Say It’ is out now — and it’s not just an album, it’s a technicolor transmission from a cooler dimension.
