    Release Date: January 30, 2025

Label: ARTium Recordings / Interscope Records

St. Louis-born singer-songwriter Jordan Ward continues his meteoric rise with the release of “Smokin Potna” featuring Sailorr, accompanied by an intimate and visually striking new music video. The single arrives alongside the announcement of Ward’s highly anticipated sophomore album, Backward, due January 30, 2025 via ARTium Recordings/Interscope Records. Pre-orders and official vinyl are available now.

Built around smoky grooves and effortlessly soulful vocals, “Smokin Potna” captures Ward’s gift for blending emotional honesty with undeniable style. Over a lush, genre-fluid production, Ward and Sailorr turn a late-night haze into something deeper—an ode to connection, vulnerability, and vibe.

“Smokin Potna” finds Jordan at his most intimate and effortless, merging atmospheric R&B and soul textures that reflect his ongoing evolution as one of the most exciting voices in modern music.

About the Upcoming Album — Backward

Following his acclaimed 2023 debut Forward, which earned praise from Rolling Stone, Complex, and Billboard, Ward’s Backward promises to explore themes of reflection, growth, and creative duality. If Forward pushed boundaries, Backward leans into introspection—melding old-school funk, alternative rock, and neo-soul in unexpected ways.

His debut LP Forward, executive produced by Lido (Ariana Grande, Mariah Carey, Halsey), featured breakout tracks like “CHERIMOYA” and “FAMJAM4000,” which Rolling Stone called one of the “Songs You Need to Know.” That success launched Ward into a breakout year of festival appearances, global touring, and a nomination for Outstanding New Artist at the 55th NAACP Image Awards.

Now, with Backward, Ward continues his evolution—more personal, more expansive, and fully in command of his sound.
