    Lana Del Rey

    “Mariners Apartment Complex”

Lana has scored again.  This might be the most beautiful and courageous song Del Rey has ever made.  The lyrics are about the passion that she has for life and her hard luck when it comes to love.  For the problems she has with relationships, Del Rey’s song always have this underpining of hope amid despair.  This song’s production helps bring this hope to the surface, starting with the beautiful piano introduction, to the background voices (as if she’s arguing with herself), to the psychedelic fadeout.  This song is a pure winner and is bound to put to rest all those stories of Del Rey’s death as an innovator.  This is one of the best songs of 2018.  Lana lives again.  And the video, in its black and white glory, brings more depth to this great song.
