“Unifying Thought,” the latest single and video from Chanel Beads, the musical project of New York-based artist Shane Lavers, debuts today alongside his first album Your Day Will Come, released under the Jagjaguwar label. The album establishes Lavers as a promising new voice in experimental music, capturing the complexities of modern life and the expansive realm of the digital age. His sound mixes the raw edge of post-punk, the emotional pull of pop, and the ethereal qualities of electronic music, all while employing unconventional song structures that lead to mesmerizing peaks.
The album features contributions from singer-songwriter Maya McGrory and multi-instrumentalist Zachary Paul, enriching the emotional depth of the work. The single “Unifying Thought” is a testament to Chanel Beads’ unique style, combining gritty acoustic guitar, lush cinematic strings, and harmonious vocals with lyrics that resonate deeply: “Focus on the love in your heart / I had a unifying thought / But I missed / Like the seasons that we lost.” The video, directed by Harleigh Shaw, portrays a day in the life of a young boy navigating through New York City on his bike.
After a sold-out album release show in New York City, Chanel Beads is set to open for Mount Kimbie on their upcoming North American tour in May.
