Western MA’s underground heroes Taxidermists—the brainchild of Cooper B. Handy (LUCY) and Salvadore McNamara—are back with “Needles To Say,” the latest taste of their upcoming album 20247, dropping this Friday via Danger Collective Records. Premiered today via Talkhouse, the track is a fuzz-drenched, hypnotic groove that finds the childhood best friends locked in their own private, twisting dialogue—lyrics that loop and unravel like a puzzle, revealing their offbeat genius one phrase at a time.

The single follows “Does The Wind Know” and “Shoot,” both of which have already turned heads at The FADER (Songs You Need In Your Life), American Songwriter, FLOOD, and Austin Town Hall. The duo is gearing up for a spring tour, including stops at NYC’s Trans-Pecos on April 3rd and LA’s Permanent Records on April 12th—check the full itinerary below.

Two Friends, One Shared Vision: The World of 20247

Handy and McNamara’s journey started in 2007, when they first connected over Myspace as pre-teens. Since then, they’ve built Taxidermists on a pure DIY spirit—zero pretension, zero gimmicks, just raw, unfiltered creativity. 20247 is the sound of two best friends pushing themselves forward while never losing sight of why they started making music in the first place.

“We haven’t made a record like this in 12 years, and we’ve learned so much since then,” they share. “We may not put out a ton of music, but we care about the music we make.”

That devotion is all over 20247. Recorded entirely to tape in McNamara’s garage studio during a frigid Massachusetts winter (with nothing but a small space heater and sheer willpower), the album thrives on its live-wire energy and human imperfections. Many of the songs were written and tracked in a single night, capturing a moment-in-time immediacy that can’t be faked. The longest song barely hits 2:50, yet each track feels like a tiny, self-contained world—fractured bursts of noise colliding with quiet introspection, cryptic sketches that evoke a place, a memory, a feeling.

At its heart, 20247 is what happens when two lifelong friends get together, shoot the shit, and turn that chemistry into something magic.
